Primary Responsibilities:



  • Utilizes appropriate clinical documentation to identify opportunities and ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes

  • Performs concurrent hospital-wide medical record reviews facilitating improvement in the quality, completeness and accuracy of medical record documentation to ensure coding compliance, accurate reporting, and improved patient outcomes

  • Acts as organizational consultant, and provides education for members of the patient care team, including medical staff, on documentation guidelines on an on-going basis

  • Identifies, and facilitates implementation of strategies for sustained work process changes that facilitate complete and accurate clinical documentation

  • Utilizes philosophies and practices to support Patient Service Excellence, such as AIDET, rounding with purpose, and discharge calls, etc. to optimize healing environment and patient outcomes

  • Works collaboratively with others to ensure hospital-wide improvement in meeting quality, core measures, and patient service excellence goals

  • Performs duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards

  • Ensures safety activities and medical center processes are accurately accessed and documented

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of Clinical Documentation Improvement with a good understanding of Revenue Cycle (Coding Process)

  • Full understanding of product life-cycles and project management

  • Experience in Quality, Case Management, Clinical Auditing or Data Abstraction necessary

  • Superior analytical skills for assessing market opportunities and competition

  • Must be willing and able to travel, including overnight, as needed up to 80% of time

 


 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • RN degree   

  • 3+ three years of clinical experience in acute care setting. Critical Care, Emergency department, or Telemetry nursing

  • A good understanding of ICD9/ ICD-10 CPT coding
