As a Behavioral/Mental Health Care Advocate you will be responsible for case management and utilization review of behavioral health and substance abuse cases. You'll have a direct impact on the lives of our members as you recommend and manage the appropriate level of care throughout the entire treatment plan.

Responsibilities:
-Focus on initial inpatient admission for psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
-Make patient assessments and determining appropriate levels of care
-Obtain information from providers on outpatient requests for treatment
-Determine if additional clinical treatment sessions are needed
-Manage inpatient and outpatient mental health cases throughout the entire treatment plan
-Administer benefits and review treatment plans
-Coordinate benefits and transitions between various areas of care
-Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consulting with facility staff or outpatient care providers on those ideas

1) Conduct focused outpatient reviews geared to gathering consistent clinical information to assess clinical needs, including bio psychosocial and co-morbid conditions, identify resources needed, and initiate discharge planning

2) Collaborate with Providers and Facilities to define problems, desired outcomes and interventions, and discuss appropriate levels of care based on clinical presentation and risk factors.

3) Utilize every opportunity to engage, educate, and motivate Providers to seek out behavioral health resources and/or services.

4) Support outcome-focused, evidenced based best practices and guidelines with Providers and Facilities

5) Identify available resources and promote use of educational materials and web-based information including liveandworkwell.com

6) Examine and identify gaps leading to Facility readmissions

7) Provide proactive intervention in order to reduce the need for acute care with Providers requesting referrals for Facility-based treatment

8) Provide consultation to Facilities and/or Providers on a variety of issues including benefit information, safety issues, confirmation of prior authorizations/approvals, procedures for higher level of care evaluations, and requests for an explanation of the level of care, coverage determination or best practice guidelines

9) Process Initial ECT provider requests

10) Formulate concise case presentations for staffing purposes

11) Administer benefits in compliance with plan inclusions,

Limitations and State/Federal mandates.

12) Comply with HIPAA regulations



Skills and Qualifications:

1)Requires a State of Idaho professional license:

oLicensed Clinical Social Worker; or

oLicensed Marital & Family Therapist; or

oLicensed Professional Counselor; or

oLicensed Clinical Practice Counselor; or

oLicensed Psychologist

oRN with 2 or more years of experience in behavioral health

2)Licenses must be active and unrestricted

3)2 years experience in a related mental health environment

4)Proficient computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Word

5)Excellent customer service skills

6)Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

7)Function independently and responsibly with minimal supervision

8)Strong team player and team building skills

9)Strong interpersonal skills

10)Able to function independently and responsibly with minimal supervision

11)Maintain direct and open communication with all levels of the organization

12)Able to handle sensitive issues with members and providers in a confidential manner

13)Demonstrates initiative in achieving individual, team, and organizational goals and objectives

14)Ability and flexibility to assume responsibilities and tasks in a constantly changing work environment

15)Strong oral and written communication skills ? specifically telephone skills

16)Medical/Behavioral setting experience (i.e. hospital, managed care organization, or joint medical/behavioral outpatient practice)

17)Dual diagnosis experience with mental health and substance abuse

18)Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patients

19)Experience working with low-income populations

20)Experience working with the aged, blind or disabled

21)Clinical training experience

22)Knowledge of the State of Idaho mental health system

23)Knowledgeable about resources available in the State of Idaho to Medicaid and CHIP recipients.

24)Bi-lingual English/Spanish language skills are a plus.

Requirements

Requirements:
-Licensed Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (LCSW), Counseling or Marriage or Family Counseling, or Licensed Ph.D., or an RN with 2 or more years of experience in behavioral health.
-Licenses must be active and unrestricted
- 2 years post-Masters experience in a related mental health environment
-Proficient Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
