Rural Carrier Assoc (Mail Delivery) - Part-time

Rural Carrier Associates (RCA) deliver and collect mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area in Madison, Middleton, and Verona, WI. Duties require arduous exertion involving prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching and may involve handling heavy containers of mail weighing up to 70 pounds.

RCA is a non-career position, part-time in nature, that is the first step in the path to a career position. RCAs replace a regular rural carrier on his or her scheduled day off, on vacation, or on other leave. They will be assigned to other carriers' routes, increasing the number of hours worked. Work is usually available several days a week, on an as-needed basis. RCAs have the opportunity to bid on full time routes after one year of service. Career employment with USPS opens up opportunities to transfer into other carrier positions across the country or to branch out into areas such as IT, management, human resources, auto maintenance, Postal Inspection, and more.

Compensation: $16.65 per hour paid bi-weekly. Up to 60 hours per week (must be available on weekends).

Benefits: After one year of service, RCAs may be eligible for health insurance under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, and long term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program.

Requirements: Applicants must have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of documented driving experience; must successfully complete Postal Service Test 473 and pass a pre-employment drug screening; and must be a US citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
