Job overview

The position assists with the functions of Payroll, Income Journal, General Cashiering, and Night Audit Internal Controls.

What you will be doing

  • Reconcile all bank accounts in a timely manner and other balance sheet accounts assigned by the Assistant Controller. (before Month end) 
  • Prepare, review and reconcile daily postings of cash in order to protect hotel funds by monitoring and reporting daily overages and shortages. 
  • Process Purchase Orders by assigning PO #’s and distribute copies to corresponding departments. 
  • Assist Assistant Director of Finance in entering Journal Entries at month end. 
  • Audit daily deposits. 
  • Assist in preparing weekly tip reports, processing reports from different agencies and weekly filing.
  • Maintain and file all balance sheet reconciliation in orderly manner.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. 
  • Assist in maintaining timely and effective paper flow in accounting area. 
  • Assist in answering phones and ensuring all inquiries are dealt with accurately, timely and in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • A four year college degree (Accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience required by position is from one to two full years of employment in regulated position with this company or other organization(s).
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the finance and hospitality professions.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information in a specialized field involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate and provide information and associated services to management, employees and guest.
  • Computer expertise required.
  • No formal supervisory responsibility, but you should act as a lead worker in providing advice, counsel, training and generally assists a supervisor.
