This position is responsible for participating in the infrastructure systems strategic development and company initiatives approved for a Network Release or Network off-cycle project that will be leveraging the build out, ongoing maintenance, and future enhancements of a Digital Platform Services (DPS) customer service online self-service portal, which will initially allow Issuers’ customer service representatives to research tokens that were generated by the Discover DPS, including Token status history, as well as conduct lifecycle management of tokens belonging to that Issuer. This includes the creation of system requirements, project User Acceptance Testing (UAT), project Implementation, authoring revisions to technical documentation and/or creating new technical documentation.

The Consultant is process focused and has cross-functional application knowledge.
This individual will focus on delivering Digital Services related enhancements as the platform evolves and the road-map is infused into the existing solution to keep up with industry best practices and ever-changing client demands.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Participate in production implementation planning and execution including being accountable for validating system quality meets business needs (requirements)
• Actively strive for process improvement by establishing and adhering to metrics to drive process efficiency resulting in ever increasing overall effectiveness of the role.
• Work with business users, system analysts, designers and programmers to create and analyze various required project documents describing the Web services / API related interfaces
• Create and maintain test cases in Quality Center
• Actively participate in walk-through, inspection, review and user group meetings for quality assurance
• Drive defect resolution based on business requirements
• Plan, document, evaluate and track testing results to ensure system applications are free from defects

Qualifications

KEY SKILLS/COMPETENCIES and PROFICIENCY LEVELS:

• Manage and execute business User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including the creation and/or review of requirements, writing user stories, validating test results, tracking defects and creating supporting documentation with a focus on detail transaction processing leveraging Web Services based APIs.
• Define all documentation resulting from new development. This includes but is not limited to Technical Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, Test Strategy, Training / User Guides and Implementation Plans. Ensure all changes are communicated and agreed upon prior to publication.
• Bachelors Degree & 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Extensive knowledge in requirements creation and/or testing of API / Web services based infrastructure (familiarity with Layer 7 architecture a plus)
• Ability to create Requirement based use cases / test cases and can leverage tools to execute those test cases to prove API / Web User Interface functionality meets business requirements
• Define and maintain User Acceptance Testing, test cases, data and plans
• Effectively communicate to different levels of an organization (staff to Sr. Management) and interact with appropriate areas on problems, changes and enhancements that may impact data, workflow and /or functionality related to the application assigned to
• Comply with standards of the software development life cycle and follow strategies, plans and procedures within project lifecycle
• Self-motivated, independently identifies opportunities to learn and contribute. Will lead without being lead
• Evaluate information to make recommendations and decisions to management
• Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical specification documents
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (incl. Visio)
• Financial industry experience in Batch Processing and/or Real-time Transaction Processing a plus
• Business Analyst or System Analyst background
• Lean or Six Sigma best practices experience a plus
