The Security Training, Awareness & Communications Manager is responsible for all enterprise security training and awareness initiatives including the strategy and operations of an effective program designed to change employee behavior as it relates to information security.  Responsibilities also include the continued development and management of the Information Security communications program which is accountable for managing internal and external information security communications. The Security Training, Awareness & Communications Manager will be part of a team that works under the direction of the Business Information Security Officer to drive an effective security awareness and communications program through all business units and including all technology and security divisions. 

 

The role is an advanced-level independent contributor position which requires technical aptitude and business acumen as well as the ability to manage diverse teams. This manager is expected to become a liaison with multiple areas to develop methods for raising awareness, providing education, and measuring outcomes which are an indication of employee behavioral change. In addition this manager is expected to be able to adapt and work in a rapidly changing environment and be able to drive change into the business without disrupting business objectives. This position requires strategic vision as well as tactical techniques which in tandem are capable of influence and the ability to garner executive-level support and employee action. The Security, Training and Awareness manager is expected to be an excellent communicator across multiple levels ranging from executives through all business units and staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 


  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements for security training an awareness are met

  • Extend beyond regulations to drive behavioral change into the business and inspire a security culture

  • Create innovative security training and awareness campaigns through the use of solution provider and custom developed-tools which are designed to be flexible and adaptable across a diverse employee population (executives, engineering, sales, finance, customer service, etc.)

  • Create baseline foundational training and awareness campaigns required for all employees but also adapt and tailor campaigns which are not one-size-fits-all to focus on role-specific requirements

  • Provide multiple delivery methods such as the use of print, video, and computer-based training to scale to different employee capabilities and job functions

  • Measure the impact of the security awareness program and directly report on success aligning to business goals

  • Align the security training and awareness program with the enterprise's greatest risks and measure the impact in risk reduction

  • Generate and execute strategic vision designed to reduce employee, contractor, and third-party risk

  • Create tactical initiatives designed to address enterprise risk as it relates to employee access

  • Align employee education with the security incident response plan and team for additional actionable internal intelligence

  • In tandem, work alongside the incident response team to measure effectiveness with incident response and postmortem exercises

  • Produce periodic program high quality reporting  illustrating program status, areas for improvement, and success attributes aligning to the business

  • Develop relationships with all lines of business and identify business unit security awareness champions to help influence the importance of the program into the enterprise

  • Other duties as assigned


 

Requirements


  • 7 or more years of information security experience

  • 5 or more years of coordinating enterprise security awareness programs

  • Technical background and thorough understanding of security threats

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including presentation and the ability to influence

  • Strong project management skills and organizational skills

  • Experience managing computer-based training and learning management systems

  • Experience with communications tactics and branding

  • Ability to work under a constantly changing environment and meet tight deadlines

  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Psychology/Human Behavior, MIS or related field, or equivalent experience
