Job overview
The Cashier is responsible for accepting payment for food and beverages and making proper change for guests and fellow employees. He/she is also responsible for restocking all products in the Mini Market as well as the maintenance of the dining area.
What you will be doing
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
- Comply at all times with Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
- Comply at all times with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Collect money and/or credit cards from guests and servers, and make correct change.
- Operate the approved credit card machine.
- Prepare cashier report as well as tip report at end of shift.
- Perform opening and closing duties according to established side-work checklist
- Be attentive of guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
- Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable outlets.
- Answer the phone according to standards.
- Communicate effectively and courteously over the telephone.
- Understand food ordering, delivery and service for dine-in and to-go service.
- Communicate department needs with manager to expedite all corrections, improvement or inventory needs.
- Keep work area clean and sanitary according to the Board of Health Regulations and HACCP.
- Understand proper food handling and rotation (FIFO).
Marginal:
- Assist servers and host/hostess in the serving of guests, as needed.
- Ensure quality control of menus and signage with regard to cleanliness and appearance.
- Attend meetings/training as required by management.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- CARE Certified.
- Safe Staff Food Handler Certified.
Requirements
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Light work - Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Able to stand during entire shift.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
