POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

E1. Responsible for transporting and assisting the Emergency Department patients.

E2. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice and managing supplies and equipment on the unit.

E3. Assists the Emergency Department staff and customers, including patients, families, visitors, EMS and peers.

E4. Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.

E5. Supports/participates in unit-based continuous quality improvement activities.

E6. Must meet all position responsibilities for the Transporter.

E7. Adheres to and complies with HCA's ethics and compliance policies in the Code of Conduct. Attends annual training sessions.

E8.Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.

E9. Practices and promotes proper aseptic technique, infection control measures, and body mechanics.

E10. Maintains clear and respectful communications both directly and via telephone with patients, family, physicians, customers and other healthcare providers.

E11. Assists in maintaining a positive learning environment.

E12. Exchanges constructive feedback with peers.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience : None Required.

Education : Educational requirements appropriate for meeting age specific needs of the patients.

Special Qualifications : Must be able to handle large patients, transport them in stretchers or wheel chairs. IV poles, oxygen, and life support equipment may have to be moved with the patient.

1. Demonstrates current clinical competence, as outlines in the appropriate orientation checklist.

2. Maintains current clinical competence.

3. Adheres to the Emegency Department's and hospital-wide customer service values.

4. Obtain NVCRISIS within 6 months of employement and maintains current CPR certification.

5. Demonstrates competence in maintaining clean stretchers and wheelchairs.
