About this job
1. Prepare patients, collects relevant information for completion of procedures
*2. Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information
*3. Demonstrates ability to perform all necessary computer operations to include billing functions
*4. Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner and always identify patients utilizing the proper protocol.
* 5. Prepare ultrasound machine and participate in quality control program
*6. Assist maternal-fetal medicine specialist in administering medications, performing invasive procedures and all types care to patient
*7. Reviews patients’ record from referring physician and performs exams that correlate with physician orders.
* 8. Demonstrates willingness to assist in additional duties
* 9. Maintains a clean work area by following infection control policies, sterile techniques and safety policies.
*10. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.
*11. Completes and maintains educational requirements.
*12. Maintains supplies for all examinations.
*13. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant other.
* THOSE SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS WITH AN (*) ARE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS JOB.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year as a staff sonographer
PREFERRED: Multiple years as a staff sonographer
EDUCATION
REQUIRED: Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology Technology and/or competently trained in ultrasound or graduate of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT and or ARDMS for licensure
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (Required or Preferred)
American Registry of Radiologic Technology or
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (required) *
Fetal Medicine Foundation and/or Maternal-Fetal Medicine First Medicine First Trimester Screening **
Current CPR certification (required)
* Required within one year of hire
**Required within six months of hire
