About this job

Manage the plant Security operations, providing continual protection to personnel, facilities and grounds. Supervises and identifies corrective action needed for Fire Brigade, First Responders, Chemical Spills and other emergency services. Provide general oversight of property protection for potential life safety and food safety threats. Provide security expertise to the Cedar Plant with more than 900 employees, 7 days a week and 3 shifts. Provide oversight and manage security vendor delivery and requirements of its service and contractors.

Oversee the plant's security force to ensure surveillance and patrol; visitor control, emergency situation response, and safety of personnel/premises. Manage security vendor on level of service and delivery.

Oversee security efforts at offsite storage locations utilized for ingredient and finished product storage and ensure level of service and delivery.

Provide professional expertise to the department for process development and implementation.

Maintain continued staff alertness and readiness, and ensure awareness of all procedures in event of emergencies.

Provide ongoing evaluation of security measures, recommending methods to counter potential risk situations.

Inspect security and emergency equipment and perform preventative measures on such.

Manage and negotiate security vendor contracts with support of Quaker and PepsiCo security and procurement functions to meet the safety requirements of the business and employees.

Partner with the contract security agency; maintain operations and high standards of professionalism, availability, and appearance of its staff.

Serve as principal point of contact for all security issues for the plant.

Lead and participate in ongoing training programs in emergency procedures, natural disasters, and other related areas.

Assist the Technical Services Department in Fire Emergency Response striving for continuous improvement and growth. Attend meetings.

Maintain necessary records to document security and fire protection and protective equipment activities of the plant for proper administration purposes.

Seek out and maintain up-to-date information regarding new developments in security and fire protection. Coordinate with City, County and State officials as needed.

Partner with HSE and Maintenance on the First Responder, Emergency Response Technician, Hazardous Material, and Incident Command training levels.

Assist the Health Center in the Medical First Responder program instilling professionalism among its volunteers.

Manage contractors for compliance to plant safety rules and background checks.

Plan, manage and control the annual Security budget.

Assist the Sr. Director, Global Security in matters pertaining to security issues and strategy when requested.

Coordinate and maintain an electronic picture file of all employees

Security representative for the Emergency Response Team. GEHMS.

Security representative for the Food Defense Team. QSHA.

Security coordinator for site traffic flow management.

Actively participate on the Resource Conservation Team, providing feedback, guidance and support to the help drive awareness and results.

Support and participation in division security projects as requested

Report to Sr. Director, Global Security for PepsiCo and with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Cedar Rapids Sr. Manager Maintenance/ Engineering.

Qualifications

Law Enforcement, security or related experience with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience is required

B.S. Degree is preferred

Provide leadership and guidance to the overall Security Policy for the Cedar Rapids site in conjunction with the Food Safety Policy.
