Laboratory Assistant I Laboratory Assistant - Job Description The primary focus of this position deals with the maintenance and dispensing of chemical standards from our inventory in collaboration with experienced staff. The initial focus will involve determining the purity of these materials using existing HPLC and TLC methods. Also, the Assistant will be responsible for weighing out the materials and preparing them for shipment. This job includes proper labeling and accounting for the material balance in the inventory database and impeccable documentation skills are mandatory for GLP purposes. After additional training and experience the job will expand to include the radioactive chemical inventory where purification of carbon-14 labeled compounds and determination of radiochemical purity are of particular importance. High safety standards must be upheld in all work and are especially important in the radioactive lab. As the work load permits, the Assistant will also have the opportunity to support synthesis chemists in areas such as sample analysis, flash purification and setting up and monitoring reactions.
