DaVita Labs and Clinical Research is
a state-of-the-art clinical laboratory serving the chronic kidney disease
market. We offer a comprehensive range of services to support patient care from
diagnosis through progression to dialysis
Receive and process specimens; enter orders in the computer
system, centrifuge specimens as needed, deliver samples to testing areas,
and store samples properly.
Update oncoming staff of the status of work activities
and pending work ensuring seamless transition between shifts.
Prepare and stock specimen processing area to
appropriate inventory levels.
Process requests and specimens for all single tube
specimens as assigned.
Unload specimen shipments and notify team leader of
shipment arrival.
Cut boxes process air bills, record shipments.
Discard specimens from the refrigerator and clear the
specimen racks in the Laboratory Information system according to
Accessioning policies and procedures.
Process/accession all single tubes as well as 3 from
the following group: Fluids, microbiology, send outs, as well as teach new
teammates.
Record refrigerator temperatures according to
Accessioning policies and procedures.
Maintain an active role in the laboratory quality
improvement program.
Document specimen quality issues; take appropriate
action to ensure proper handling and disposition of all test requests; and
accept and reject specimens based on laboratory standard policies and
procedures.
Notify supervisor and/or technical section of potential
or existing concerns.
Follow the established policies and procedures to meet
regulatory and accrediting agency's requirements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability
to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical laboratory
reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients.
Ability to effectively present information to clients, personnel and laboratory
management and/or others as needed. Ability to effectively solve issues
relating to laboratory requests, and specimen problems.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: High
school diploma; Customer service training/certification; or two to three years
laboratory-related experience and/or training/ or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Laboratory experience preferred but not mandatory.
·
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to communicate an extensive variety of technical
instructions and information.
·
OTHER SKILLS AND
ABILITIES: Ability to work with specific computer programs. Familiar with the
clinical laboratory process and medical terminology. Must be able to properly
handle biohazardous specimens.
