About this job

POSITION GOAL:

Position exists to prepare all patient menus, deliver carts to units, clean refrigerators, document refrigerator and freezer temperatures, deliver late trays, pick up carts and deliver to kitchen and take menu selection from all patients admitted to the hospital.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

E1. Highlights and prepares menus accurately to the patient diet order report.

E2. Responsible for cleaning of patient unit refrigerators and the documentation of temps.

E3. Picks up patient carts from units and covers late trays for breaks.

E4. Takes menu selection for all patients within the hospital providing proper menu selection that is appropriate for the prescribed diet.

E5. Performs follow-up menu calls providing menu selection for those missed.

E6. Assures that a tally of needed food items is prepared for salad production.

E7. Delivers carts for dinner, delivers late trays, returns dinner carts to kitchen, performs late tray run looking for dirty trays in all hospital utility rooms.

INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS:

Works with professional and non-professional employees of the hospital and with physicians, patients, and their families.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: 2 years previous work experience in a healthcare food service department, patient care preferred.

Education:

Special Qualifications:

1. Must have outgoing, pleasant personality and have willingness to help others. Excellent customer service skills are a must.

2. Must be able to spend most of day walking, pushing carts and visiting patients.

3. Must be able to operate and understand the hospital computer system and keep confidential information.
