Sutter Health’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is the San Francisco East Bay Area’s largest private, not-for-profit medical center, with a total of 920 licensed beds. This position supports the rehabilitation team in our beautiful 58-bed facility at the Summit campus, featuring a 12,000 square-foot treatment space, state-of-the-art therapy equipment, all patient private rooms and an outdoor therapy garden. Our services are provided to individuals who range from early to late adulthood and have diagnoses of stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, progressive neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, amputations, cancer and complex medical conditions.

Our Acute Rehabilitation program is CARF accredited since 1993, having received numerous awards for our comprehensive integrated inpatient rehabilitation program. In addition, we are recognized for our CARF-accredited specialty programs, including stroke and brain injury.

Each employee shall meet the minimum qualifications and essential job functions, as well as established age and skill specific competencies. Skill competencies requiring additional development will be identified in the first year of employment and addressed annually in the employee's performance plan.

The Speech Pathologist p rovide diagnostic, therapeutic, and communication counseling services for individuals with all types of communicative disorders. Functions as a member of the Rehabilitation team. Persons served range from adolescence to late adulthood. In addition to the minimum qualifications and essential job functions, each employee shall meet established age and skill specific competencies. Skill competencies requiring additional development will be identified in the first year of employment and addressed annually in the employee's performance plan. Education:

Master's degree in Speech Pathology.

Experience:

Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (9 months paid professional experience). Clinical practicum and clinical fellowship year must demonstrate knowledge and experience with a variety of pediatric and/or adult neurogenic disorders. Two years clinical experience.

Licensure or Certification:

Must apply for and obtain, within 90 days, California license in Speech Pathology. Current CPR/BLS Certification.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to transport non-ambulatory adult patients via wheelchair. Ability to impose physical constraint and/or maneuver patients necessary to ensure their safety. See attached "Physical Work Conditions Checklist" for specific physical requirements.
