Assists nursing personnel and physicians in providing emergency care services. Observes, identifies and reports client's needs to nurses. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Graduate of accredited Emergency Medical Technician program. One year related experience in an acute emergency dept preferred. Knowledge and ability to apply sterile technique. Knowledge of emergency care techniques and procedures to provide quality care to clients. Ability to assist with casting and splinting. Knowledge of medical terminology
License/certification: Current California Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-I) license required. EMT-P preferred. Current certification as Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider strongly preferred. Current State of California Phlebotomy (CPT-I) license required.
Special Skills and/or Equipment Used: Strong organizational skills. Demonstrates ability to set priorities. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, physicians and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
