HVAC Technician

Position is contingent upon award of the project

Essential Responsibilities:

Installs, operates, repairs, troubleshoots, and accomplishes preventive maintenance on small and large refrigeration, air conditioning (A/C) units, plants and associated systems.

Repair or replace malfunctioned /defective HVAC equipment, electrical components or wiring. Reassemble and test heating-cooling equipment following repairs.

Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services industrial/commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units.

Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems and determines appropriate repairs.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and wiring.

Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.

Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers.

Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, cleans coil, and provides preventive maintenance on equipment.

Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Works inside and outside in various weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat.

Work around non-hazardous materials/waste lifting, stooping, crawling, bending, and carrying.

Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.

Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills.

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school coupled with 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess an apprentice license or equivalent.

CFC certification required.

Currently holds or ability to successfully obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

Journeyman’s license preferred

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
