Current openings for Designer I, Designer II and Designer III's with a client that is supporting Duke Energy. Duke is currently upgrading their distribution lines in NC and our client has the contract to provide the electrical engineering for the distribution network. Candidates MUST have design experience with electrical distribution enginereing to be considered for the Tech III's. Candidates must have some utility experience and a consultant background would be the best fit.

Job Description:

*Apply company/client policies and procedures for the development of site designs
for overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities including
reconductoring, conversions, cable replacement, customer and reliability jobs.
*Complete site visits inclusive of field notes, visual inspection, equipment
inventory, measurements and field conditions utilizing electronic tools and
required PPE.
*Prepares site drawings and construction sketches using MicroStation and
GNetviewer for various installations of electrical facilities in a cost-effective
manner that maximizes safety and service reliability utilizing client standards.
*Evaluate loading of various equipment components being installed such as
transformation, poles or fusing to ensure a cost-effective, safe, and reliable design
utilizing client specifications.
*Prepares project or job packages using Expert Designer and WMIS including
material estimates and material requisitions of the materials required for the
prepared distribution electrical designs.
*Properly apply company/client standards for each project design ensuring a safe
and cost effective design and installation.
*Maintain accurate records and files and update the appropriate company/client
GIS systems.
*Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external customers,
builders, developers, electricians, other utilities, and city officials as needed in the
execution of job responsibilities.
*Supports both company and client's business goals and expectation while
representing themselves positively and professionally.

Required Qualifications:


Either a college graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or an Associate's Degree in GIS or Engineering Technology with 4 to 6 years' experience, or 6 to 8 years of equivalent experience working for investor owned electric utilities with no degree. Good
written and oral communication skills. Valid driver's license required.
