 Works on multiple aspects of material handling and processing of goods throughout the distribution center (DC). Keep the departments within the assigned area organized, neat and clean and free from potential safety issues. Works in tandem with other DC team members to ensure proper established procedures are being followed and operating standards are met.

Job Responsibilities

  • Processes data within closely defined procedures.
  • Refers more complex items to a supervisory or lead role.
  • Prepares and/or verifies computer input where information is coded for computer processing.
  • Investigates and establishes facts related to queries raised by suppliers, customers, and others in the department.
  • May prepare ad-hoc information and statistical breakdowns as directed, from readily available sources.
  • May raise standard letters in response to queries.
  • May have limited telephone contact with customers and suppliers to exchange information.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • 40% - Unload/load cartons, cases or other designated units from/to trucks, conveyors or pallets. Receives merchandise into a department and/or distributes merchandise to other departments or established retail outlets. This process will include work done manually and/or by using mechanical equipment or powered industrial trucks.
  • 35% - Ticket, label or sensor tag units, cartons, items or cases as appropriate to ensure compliance with audit and Asset Protection requirements, or to support specified Store needs. This may require printing labels and tickets, opening/closing cartons, manually marking cartons or manually affixing loss prevention sensor tags.
  • 25% - Verify, scan, select or move merchandise using printed detailed information, Radio Frequency (RF) scanners and/or other equipment as necessary to ensure accuracy of the number of units received into designated area. This may include counting units, reading labels or other documents and following procedures for the selection and use of various equipment routinely found in a distribution center environment.

Prerequisite Skills/Experience for this position

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and less than two (2) years experience in a distribution center, warehouse or other logistics type of environment.
  • Good reading, writing, basic math, communication and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers (PC) and their related applications.
  • Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift up to 40 lbs., 60% of the time during a shift.
