DESCRIPTION

This is advanced level work, and/or supervisory work at Wesconnett Family Health Center. At this level, employees independently perform the most complex and difficult assignments under limited supervision. The work requires applying a logical or scientific understanding of business practices and procedures in order to analyze and resolve problems of a specialized or professional nature in a particular field, or in a wide range of applications. The employee must exhibit skilled decision-making techniques in evaluating, planning or integrating analysis of data to formulate solutions, strategies, policies or recommendations of a specialized or technical nature.

This position is responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.

The duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

Conducting clinic sessions related to special programs and providing triage nursing assessments for persons presenting with complaints of acute, chronic or episodic illness (walk in or telephone). Performing basic, advanced, and extended nursing functions in specialized clinical areas such as primary care, family planning and child health service delivery to meet the demand according to policy and procedure. Providing advice on care and management of illnesses and referring patients with abnormal findings to mid-level practitioner or physician. This position interprets policies and procedures for subordinates. This position works under the supervision of the Medical Director. This position functions as the nurse supervisor for subordinate staff and assists with orientation of new staff as well as students. This position plans and distributes work assignments, provides public health nursing consultation regarding preventive health care to patients. This position will assist Clinic Manager/Medical Director in quality management, conducting staff meetings and record reviews. This position will provide coverage and monitoring of staff. Evaluate subordinates with constructive feedback from the Medical Director.

This position will issue medications/vaccines, take vital signs, obtain medical history, perform venipuncture for specimen collection, perform simple laboratory procedures, maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications, prepare drug orders, and coordinate preparation of examination/treatment rooms and equipment. This position will assist with medical history taking, review abnormal findings with providers as appropriate, and provide diagnosis-related counseling as appropriate.
