TITLE:
Parks Maintenance Worker (FLSA non-exempt) R 4.13
SUPERVISOR:
Parks Crew Leader
EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE:
One to three years experience in property, landscape or park maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to operate all forms of light and heavy park maintenance equipment.
Must be able to prioritize and follow/carry out a variety of assignments.
Able to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Must be able to read, write, and speak in English
HOURS:
The normal workweek shall be designated by the Superintendent of Park and Facility Maintenance as necessary to properly perform the duties of the job. The position requires 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The schedule is flexible and may require some Saturday's and Sunday's. This is a seasonal position
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
Operates all hand and power tools.
Cleans, provides preventative maintenance, and simple repairs of maintenance equipment.
Operates automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
Performs custodial cleaning, grass mowing, and general park and building maintenance and construction.
Mow turf on a scheduled basis.
Maintain trees and shrubs, to include watering, fertilizing and pruning.
Using weed eater, trim tree wells, edges/banks and other boundary-type areas.
Rakes and cleans sand courts hand equipment.
Services trash receptacles daily.
Maintains the landscape and flower beds around the CRC, Aquatic Center and park signs.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
Work as scheduled.
Performs construction and maintenance of athletic fields and special event facilities including but not limited to: temporary fencing, installing and grading infield clay/sand loam, tent/seating set- ups, moving bleachers, soccer goal assembly and repair, drain tile installation and floodwater pumping.
Assists staff with maintenance and construction of pavements, buildings, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and lighting, furnaces, ducts, pipe lines, water lines, shelters, benches, playground equipment, signs, fencing, sewers, and drainage structures, asphalt, concrete and brick paving, stone paths, etc.
Assists with snow removal and ice making procedures.
Operates equipment and machinery.
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
RATE OF PAY: $10.00 - $11:00 DOE
