JOB SUMMARY

The Nursing Supervisor maintains responsibility, accountability and authority for operations on the Nursing units on the off shifts and in the absence of the Clinical Manager. Coordinates and controls the administration of patient care services on the unit to ensure the effective and efficient administration of all patient programs and services for continuity, quality and cost-effectiveness in patient care, staff development, regulatory compliance and related documentations. Collaborates in developing and attaining Nursing department goals. Participates as an active member of the management leadership team in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of the Nursing department. Assumes other responsibities as requested by the Director of Nursing and as needed by organization/Nursing department changes. Completes mandatory and annual competencies. Critical behaviors inherent in this leadership role include Strategic Management, Professional Practice, Patient Care Management, Quality Management, Staffing, Human Resources Management, Financial Management and Professional Development.

REQUIREMENTS

Required: Five years nursing experience, BSN or equivalent experience. Must have a current California Registered Nurse License. Must have current BLS , ACLS and PALS certification-- all must be AHA issued. Preferred: Two years leadership experience, Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare/Hospital Administration, or Business.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients or employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
