A successful Leave Specialist will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; and one plus years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of staff.
  • Advanced computer expertise that includes proficiency in databases, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in order to solve system and process issues.

 

The Leave Specialist is an entry-level position in DISH's corporate Human Resources department. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of HR tasks related to FMLA and ADA Administration.

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Maintains Compliance: ensures leave of absence requests are compliant with company standards and federal/state regulations.
  • Coordinates leaves of absence activities: issues proper forms, reviews certifications, assists employees with leave of absence questions, and communicates accordingly.
  • Maintains HRIS systems: enters data changes, ensures on-line and phone data submissions are compliant with company standards, and audits HRIS systems for correct systems usage.
  • Prepares reports: produces and audits standardized HR reports for the business and internal HR use.
  • Maintains working knowledge of DISH policies and procedures to be able to clearly communicate applicable information with departments and individuals.
  • Performs other administrative functions including filing and data entry.
