About this job
Responsibilities* At least fifty (50) minutes of class time instruction per session, per day (Monday-Thursday)
Ability to teach rising 9th, 10th, and/or 11th grade high school students of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
Design lessons, assignments, homework, projects that will assist in meeting course and program goals and objectives
Provide syllabi for all students, staff, and administrators
Provide well planned and organized instruction
Timely and accurate grading and evaluation
Must be available for parent meetings
Must provide tools (lessons, pertinent information/hand-outs, etc?) for tutors
Must complete all given objectives and evaluations by given deadlines
Available to report on student progress each week and for parent conference
Required Qualifications* This is a grant funded position with a possible 12-month appointment.
Possess a Bachelor's degree, certification or expertise in a subject area.
Candidate must possess excellent classroom and project management skills, communication, leadership skills and experience relating to record keeping, management and organization.
Must have experience teaching middle/high school students and working with parents.
Must be creative, energetic, enthusiastic and committed to the five to seven week summer program.
Instructors who have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching are needed for instruction in the following subject areas: Writing, Reading, Algebra 1,Geometry, Algebra 2, Advanced Algebra/Pre-Calculus, Literacy in Math, English, and reading for grades 3-5 (Master Teacher), Gender Studies/Sociology for - G's to Gents (Course for young men) and Sass to Class (Course for young ladies), Leadership/Public Speaking, Diversity Education/Cultural Competency, Job and Career Training/Professional Development, Career Pathways (Arts and Communication, Business, Management, Marketing, and Technology, STEMM, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Industrial Technology, Health Sciences, Human Services, Natural Resources and Agriscience)
Desired Qualifications* Proficient in Microsoft Suite-Microsoft Word
Novice in Microsoft Suite-Access, Excel and Publisher
