The Associate Director of Compliance / Lead Investigator will be responsible for investigating potentially high volume and complex, escalated, or sensitive allegations regarding potential Compliance issues.  You will have strong investigative skills and will be supporting investigations for all Optum business units. The Associate Director will assess reported allegations, identify applicable governing laws, regulations, and policies, and conduct investigations, including analyzing documents and interviewing witnesses. You will analyze facts uncovered through the investigation against controlling statutes, laws, regulations, policies and guidance, and make a merit determination for all allegations. You must prepare high quality written summaries for the investigation and witness interviews, and have strong communication skills to brief high level business leadership. The Associate Director will work collaboratively with legal, compliance, Human Capital, and business partners throughout the investigation, and will also work with UHG Enterprise Compliance leadership. You will help business compliance partners identify and recommend process improvements and best practices to promote compliance. You should have very strong investigative, analytical, communication, and writing skills. Candidates will be based at our Eden Prairie MN location, and must be available for travel for investigations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of experience in a legal (legal services, paralegal, etc.) or compliance role

  • 3+ years of experience conducting legal, compliance, regulatory, or law enforcement investigations

  • Adept at understanding complex concepts and situations presented by the business environment

  • Ability to investigate and assess complex problems and recommend the appropriate compliance solutions

  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic and high-growth environment

  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, organizational, time management, and problem solving skills

  • Experience managing multiple projects/tasks (role will be handling a typical caseload of 10-15 cases)

  • Intermediate or better level of proficiency using MS Word & MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience working in a government or healthcare environment with experience in compliance

  • Professional degree

  • Professional certification

  • Experience with financial or fraud investigations

  • Experience working with regulators

  • 2+ years of experience performing data analysis

  • Working experience with HIPAA, Medicare and/or Medicaid regulations
