About this job

Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening) and ambulatory detoxification, as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.

The Director of Nursing is primarily accountable for the supervision, management and delivery of safe and effective patient care within the context of structured clinical programs and an interdisciplinary treatment team. S/He provides administrative supervision and nursing oversight to all staff on the Detox unit, acting as a liaison to other departments to ensure coordinated and efficient operations of services as well as delivery of safe and effective client care. S/He has 24/7 responsibility for adult detox programs.

Duties include scheduling and supervision of the nursing and support staff, employee health functions and immunization clinics, on-call RN coverage, client flow (admissions, discharges and transfers), unit operations (day-to-day functions, ensuring staff breaks and efficient shift change, adherence to observation rounds, chart audits). Administrative duties include weekly payroll calculation and submission, ensuring adherence to budgeted FTEs.

CT licensed RN with Bachelors degree required Masters preferred. Must have experience managing operations, including staff supervision, as well as experience in behavioral health services (ideally a substance abuse discipline). The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively deal with all levels of staff. Strong time management skills and attention to detail a must. Joint Commission accreditation experience strongly preferred.
