Positions in the Compensation function are responsible for design, development and deployment of tools, process and consulting around all enterprise-wide and/or customer compensation programs that support UnitedHealth Group and client group objectives of attracting, retaining and motivating key talent with programs that are competitive and responsive to external influences and internal objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business issues and priorities; effectively analyze and diagnose problems; provide clear advice and recommendations to help client make sound business decisions; establish credibility and trust by delivering on commitments

  • Influence partners in Human Capital and business leaders using a balance of compensation expertise, business acumen, objectivity, and relationship skills; advise and influence business partners in compensation strategy, programs and issues using this balanced perspective

  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and compensation governance practices at UnitedHealth Group; ensure compensation processes and programs are compliant with current regulations and internal procedures; help drive changes in the compensation programs that result from regulatory changes and changes in the business

  • Compile/summarize/analyze data (including survey results, market data, internal compensation data, etc.) to help make fact-based decisions and recommendations

  • Develop and analyze compensation strategies, market pricing, internal communications

  • Ensure compensation design and processes are integrated with delivery of other Total Rewards processes and programs.

  • Support the compensation review process to ensure business and company objectives are being met

  • Strive to continuously improve compensation processes

  • Drive project-oriented compensation changes as needed

  • Incentive plan design and administration considering internal factors, industry best practices and business needs

  • Support mergers and acquisitions with involvement from due diligence through the integration phase

  • Evaluate feasibility and design of non-standard pay programs (e.g., shift differentials, premium pay, bilingual pay, on-call pay)

  • Mentoring and coaching junior members of the team

 


 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree Required

  • 3+ years of Compensation or HR Consulting experience including two or more years in a role advising and consulting with business partners required

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel required

  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, negotiating, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications:




  • Master's degree preferred, CCP


  • Health Care or Financial Services experience
