Position Summary
Support the Sr. Manager in the monthly close activities for GeC legal entities by reviewing financial statements to identify missing or incomplete information: coordinating with other departments to ensure recording of missing transactions; and submitting final close data for approval. Ensure accuracy of recorded information by reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts for GeC legal entities; preparing elimination entries needed for Consolidated SLE reporting; preparing journal entries to correct discrepancies; recording foreign currency adjustments to outstanding inter-company loans; reconciling adjusted basis in loans to financial statements and treasury systems to ensure accurate valuations for reporting purposes; compiling financial statements on each entity using Essbase, Excel or other financial reporting systems in accordance with United States generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); and verifying bank reconciliations in each entity.
Position Description
• Prepare reporting documentation by ensuring SLE reporting is consistent with the financial reporting from the Corporate Reporting team; preparing and providing financial analysis as it relates to SLE accounting (for example, flux analysis by legal entity); supporting the forecast and planning related to SLE accounting; and providing ad hoc SLE reporting. • Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of International Reporting, coordinate statutory financial statement preparation (for example, for operations in countries outside the United States, for Bureau of Economic Affairs (BEA) and statutory audits for GeC legal entities) by communicating with other departments including Legal, Tax, and Treasury to gather information. • Manage the set-up of new entities in different Walmart systems and conduct user acceptance testing. Maintain GeC legal entities documents in a centralized repository system. These documents are, but not limited to, formation documents, legal documents, tax documents, statutory accounts, intercompany agreements and loan agreements. • Under the direction of Sr. Manager of International Reporting, work closely with Tax and Legal departments on Tax/SLE initiatives to ensure compliance with SLE accounting and reporting by reviewing intercompany agreements for proper accounting and documenting the related transaction flows. Financial Reporting/Consolidation • Participate in the GeC Corporate month-end close process, consolidation of GeC financial statements, internal management financial reporting, and financial analysis by ensuring the accuracy and inclusion of financial packages from GeC markets; resolving identified inter-company eliminations discrepancies through collaboration with reporting segments, financial shared services and in-country accounting teams as needed; reviewing and analyzing balance sheet fluctuations; working with in-country accounting teams to resolve accounting and timing issues; analyzing variances in income statements; researching items; obtaining and verifying explanations for variances; preparing financial schedules; and completing assigned accounting calculations. • Support compliance with departmental Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes by assisting in the application and documentation of internal controls; identifying and reporting exceptions to management; and working with external and internal auditors on control testing efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
• 5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, accounting, audit related field • Previous experience in legal entity accounting and consolidation of subsidiary financials • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Additional Preferred Qualifications
• CPA and / or MBA preferred • Ability to speak fluent Mandarin preferred • Walmart experience a plus, including expatriate and/or international assignments • Previous eCommerce or retail industry experience preferred • Aptitude and willingness to learn new accounting systems • Domestic and/or international travel may be required
