The Occupational Health Nurse performs case management activities related to workers' compensation injuries. Duties also involve providing assistance to the medical provider as necessary for workers' compensation injuries and physicals. Performs immunizations and blood draws. Has oversight of activities of OHS clinic, including: drug screen program, physicals, tracking and reporting, and supplies

STARDARD V

Position Specific Performance Criteria/Essential Job Functions

Performs various nursing functions as necessary within scope of practice to facilitate the needs of the clinic. Services may include but are not limited to triage of clients, rooming patients, taking vital signs, patient assessment, taking history of injury, medical history review, blood drawing, TB testing and immunizations. Assessments include workers' compensation injury case management as well as general health assessment of employees at contract companies.

Provides assistance to the medical provider as necessary within scope of practice.

Performs spirometry testing, audiometry, EKG, vision testing, drug testing, and breath alcohol testing as necessary.

Maintains appropriate certification for drug screening and breath alcohol testing.

Performs case management duties as necessary, including: ensuring claim number is obtained, verifying insurance information, providing status reports and medical records to insurance companies, communicating work status to employers, and obtaining pre-approval when necessary.

Follows up on active patients to ensure compliance with treatment plan. Calling no-shows, reviewing active patients weekly for compliance with treatment plan.

Organizes biweekly case management meetings and acts upon identified case management needs.

Sets up referrals for diagnostic testing and to specialty physicians. Obtains test results and medical notes from referrals. Enters all referrals and other case management information into Systoc for tracking.

Performs professional duties in a variety of environments to include clinic, hospital and onsite at companies.

Manages patient flow according to schedule.

Establishes good relationships with client companies and payers representatives assessing OHS's fulfillment of obligations and service provisions.

Develops tracking and reporting systems for clients.

Communicates to employers/referral source in a professional, accurate and timely manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of New Hampshire Workers' Compensation laws.

Track immunizations and lab results for physicals. Perform TB reads and coordinates necessary follow-up. Mails lab results to patients as necessary.

Processes the results of physicals and pre-employment post offer screens. Ensures accuracy, completeness and transfer of appropriate information to employers. Ensures positive relationships with timely and appropriate communication to employers.

Assists in training and supervision of clinical tasks to clinical support staff (MA, LNA). Delegates work appropriately to clinical and office staff members.

Responsible for ordering and managing clinical supplies including: pharmacy, drug screen supplies, flu clinic supplies and clinic supplies.

Collaborates with sales/marketing to provide screenings and other occupational health-related services to clients/companies . Identifies clinical services that are requested/needed and coordinates the staffing, supplies and services.

Ensures compliance with reporting of patient safety errors.

Coordinates and oversees the drug and alcohol screening program for OHS. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all screens from start to completion. Provides the MRO services for the non-DOT positive drug screens for THC. Provides training as needed for DOT and non DOT training. Acts as a resource for DOT physicals requirements.

RN with Bachelor's, BLS and min of 3-7 years related experience is required.
