Overland Park Regional Medical Center is one of the premiere medical facilities in Johnson County. The hospital is a licensed 343-bed facility offering acute and outpatient medical care services to the Overland Park community and the surrounding areas since December of 1978. Overland Park Regional Medical Center is currently looking for a Lead Cook .

The Lead Cook will be responsible as the main resource for questions related to the kitchen and food production in the absence of the Chef. This associate, will also be responsible for working a station in the kitchen producing food for patients or the retail cafeteria or both; keeping in mind that the quality and safety is the highest we can give and that the perceived value is equal. Expected to maintain a professional level of attitude toward the patients, guest, and fellow associates in the facility. Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, safety, environmental, infection control, emergency preparedness standards and laws to which the hospital is subject. Demonstrates respect, courtesy and empathy to all individuals; patients, families, co-workers, physicians and volunteers. Maintains positive work relationships and contributes to a team environment. Attends and participates in in-service presentations and departmental meetings. Operates equipment safely and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Under supervision from management the employee will perform other duties and tasks as assigned such as stocks food and supplies in all areas of the hospital.

Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: Must have sound cooking skills and knowledge of food concepts in various cuisines. Must be able execute cooking principals and show the ability to read recipes, follow recipe directions, read thermometers and compute measurements. Good interpersonal skills required in order to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and provide service in a friendly manor. Must demonstrate sound leadership techniques / skills when working with fellow associates.

Licensure/Certifications: Culinary certifications preferred. CCC or above.

Experience: 2-5 years cooking in a healthcare facility, hotel catering or restaurant. Must possess the skills to safely operate, clean and sanitize small kitchen equipment : slicer, oven, fryer, mixer knives, coolers, freezer, can openers, thermometers, production sheets, temp charts and recipes.
