Job Description:
The Faculty Instructor is a registered nurse who demonstrates expertise in nursing and in teaching nursing. As a member of Mercy Hospital School of PracticalNursing, a Program of Plantation General Hospital, the Faculty Instructor is responsible for the educational preparation of safe, compassionate, caring practical nurses, who are eligible to sit for the State Licensing Examinations (NCLEX-PN) following graduation. This instruction includes supervision of the adult learner and providing direct patient care to populations across the life span. The Faculty Instructor will support the overall goals of the School of Practical Nursing and those of the Mercy Hospital, a Campus of Plantation General Hospital.
Assists in developing, evaluating, and revising student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies
Maintains positive teaching qualities including appearance, voice tone, body language, preparedness, enthusiasm and creativity conducive to a learning environment.
Arranges patient assignments for students prior to the scheduled rotation and submits patient assignment and clinical objectives to the patient care area manager or designee prior to the scheduled rotations.
Completes student academic progress reports at designated intervals each trimester as directed by the curriculum.
Completes student standards of professional behavior evaluation summary inclusive of theory and clinical attendance monitoring at designated interverals each trimester.
Utilizes a variety of resources to maximize student learning including various forms of media, computer assisted programs, journals, other texts, and guest lecturers.
Selects specific instructional and reference material for use in the curriculum, faculty notes, student handouts, and exams corresponding to each course / unit assigned to.
Develops, implements, and evaluates curriculum including course syllabus, outlines and lesson plans utilizing the school's systematic program evaluation and submits changes to the Director and Assistant Director within established timelines.
Must have Bachelor's degree
Master's degree strongly preferred
RN License in the state of Florida
Must have BLS issued through the American Heart Association
3-5 years of clinical experience required
Previous Instructor experience strongly preferred
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have experience in one of the following OB, L&D, Post Partum
