Blake Medical Center is located in Bradenton, Florida, just minutes from the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches of Manatee County. Our 383-bed, level II trauma hospital has been named a nine-time "Top 100 Hospital" and a "Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital" by Thompson Reuters (formerly known as Solucient). Blake Medical Center has received accreditation in many specialty areas including Stroke, Chest Pain, Joint Care Center, CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), and through the ACS (American College of Surgeons). At Blake Medical Center, we utilize complete computerized charting ("Electronic Health Record") for our patient assessment and care documentation. We also utilize eMAR, our electronic medication administration record for the delivery of all medications provided to our patients, which has significantly reduced errors associated when administering medications. In 2013, our hospital implemented the CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) application called "Advanced Clinicals".
Our third floor Medical-Surgical Department is a 41-bed unit with all private rooms. Our patient profile is diverse and encompasses medical, post-surgical, and, oncology patients. Special procedures performed on this unit include chemotherapy. This unit is also the Cancer Care Center for the hospital. Our Medical-Surgical Department is committed to fulfilling our hospital's mission "to provide exceptional care to every patient, everytime."
Skill Mix: RN, LPN, CNA, Student Nurse ("SNAP"), unit coordinator
Major Equipment Used: IV pumps, IVAC, Dinamaps, Dopplers, Lifting Equipment, Accu-Check, Pyxis, Crash Cart
Special Certifications Needed: BLS through the American Heart Association
Schedules: 12-hour shifts (0700-1930, 1900-0730); Full Time is considered 36 hours per week, including every other weekend
Dress code: Nurses wear professional scrubs in royal blue or white
Designated Charge Nurse who does not typically take an assignment on the day shift
Lifting equipment available: Opera, Encore, Maxislides, Z-slides

Current licensure as an RN in the State of Florida.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
Previous Med/Surg experience desired.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
