3M is seeking a Machinist for the Industrial Business Group located in Lexington, KY. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Machinist will perform simple/routine set ups and operation of conventional, CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts under close supervision.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Studies blueprints, method sheets, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required

- Perform simple/routine setup and operation of CNC machines

- Enters commands to retrieve, input computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures, observes machine to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

- The ability to turn bars .33 to .890 and 1.7 and higher

- Ability to make offset adjustments to lasers

- Perform cut for Sembo bars

- Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary

- Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required

- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems

- Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to

- Maintain a clean and tidy work area while following all plant rules and safety regulations

- Participate in all safety and regulatory training needed to fulfill the duties of the position

- Follow all plant safety rules and regulations, wear PPE as required per procedures

- Perform other duties as assigned

This position will require:

- Working overtime

- Working weekends

- Working holidays as needed

Basic Qualifications:

- High School Diploma/GED and two years of CNC manufacturing experience OR two-year technical degree

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to use basic hand held measuring tools

- Ability to read and interpret drawings

- Ability to follow routers

- Ability to use math to perform basic calculations

Location: Lexington, KY
