Hiring freeze exemption request approval will be needed before an official job offer can be made.Under the direction of the Correctional Plant Supervisor, this position is responsible for the supervision of (3) Lead Groundskeepers. Supervises the planting, cultivation, propagating, transplanting, and caring of all grounds. Supervises the maintenance of garden tools and equipment. Responsible for designs and layout of minor landscape project. Supervises pest and noxious weed control and tree trimming. Maintain the proper drainage systems for grounds or roadside planting. Supervises the outside grounds crew maintaining the outer perimeter, and parking areas of the institution. Supervises repairs to sprinkler system. Maintains time and cost records. Assists in preparation of grounds maintenance budget. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates. Prevents escapes and injury of inmates to themselves or others, or to property. Maintains security of working area and work materials.

Supervises and instructs Lead Groundskeeper and inmates in the landscape maintenance of the institution, to include planting, cultivation, propagating and transplanting of trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, lawns and ground covers. Perform minor work on roads and walkways, make minor adjustment to sprinkler systems to keep them in repair. Prepare bid packages, estimates, and coordinates various projects. Maintain time and cost reports. Assist in preparation of grounds maintenance budget.Responsible for the security of tools and equipment. Will comply with Tool Control Procedures as outlined in D.O.M.
