About this job
The Mental Health Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Six months experience in a mental health setting or patient care is preferred. A food handler's certification is also preferred.
Skills and knowledge required are good communication and computer skills, the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written or oral instructions, ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization, ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism when circumstances warrant such action. Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, family members, personnel, and support agencies as a team. Also, must have the ability to handle, prepare food, and properly store food in accordance with the accepted standards for health/hygiene.
A P.R.N. position involves working a varying number of hours per week and may involve working various/rotating shifts.
