About this job

Generally spends approximately fifty percent of time as staff nurse responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of an assigned group of patients. Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and other members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat the patient's responses to actual or potential health conditions. Assesses, monitors, detects, plans, and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications associated with specific health problems and / or medical treatment.Generally spends fifty percent of time as a nurse educator and assesses, plans, implements and evaluates orientation, in-services, competencies, and continuing education programs within area of specialization. Promotes a model of continuous learning through participation in education, consultation, role modeling and research. Facilitates and supports learning opportunities for the organization and the community, with particular emphasis on programs that impact the entire organization, across team lines.

This position includes coverage of the ED at Kelsey Hospital and coverage of OB & Surgery at United Hospital.

Basic Qualifications:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Science

Experience - 2 years of acute care clinical experience required; related to area of focus preferred

Licenses - Registered Nurse (RN)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 Days

PALS or ENPC within 90 Days

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 Days

NIH Stroke Certification within 90 Days

Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) within 90 Days

Preferred Qualifications:

Education - Master's Degree in Nursing Education or Adult Education

Experience - Education and program development experience

Licenses - Certification in clinical specialty or Nursing Professional Development
