General Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP) works collaboratively with the clinic psychiatrist for providing psychiatric services and care to the clinic's child & adolescent population, including clinical diagnosis, intervention planning, medication management and discharge planning.The NPP functions as an integral part of the clinic team.The position is part-time- 14 hours including Saturdays.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
* Provide psychiatric assessment
* Provide clarification of clinical diagnosis
* Recommend treatment options and follow treatment outcomes
* Active participation in case conferences and related team based meetings
* Prescribe psychotropic medication as appropriate for client care
* Work with the clinical staff towards the integration of health with behavioral health
* Partner with other staff toward best practice intervention planning
* Recommend discharge and aftercare planning
* Provide client education on behavioral health issues and strategies for recovery
Requirements:
A Nurse Practitioner degree with specialized training in child and adolescent psychiatry.A current license to practice as a nurse practitioner in New York State.A current DEA registration for the prescribing of controlled substances.
