Under the direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or employee acting for them, performs various tasks associated with the maintenance, repair of fence and guardrail, traffic control, slide removal, and minor construction projects on State highways and highway structures. Incumbent may operate and/or service highway maintenance, landscape, or construction equipment described under levels of equipment of Caltrans Equipment Operator II. Incumbent is required to maintenance a Class "A" drivers license. Incumbent may be required to work irregular shifts, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays. Incumbent will work in a wide range of sometimes extreme conditions, including heat up to 100 degrees and cold to 25 degrees, rain and strong winds. Incumbent will be required to work overtime due to storm emergencies or special work projects.
All methods of appointment will be considered (e.g. list appointment, transfer, re-instatement, surplus, SROA, re-employment, Training & Development assignment, etc.). All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the classification in order to be eligible for appointment to the position.
