The Time Warner Cable office currently seeks a/an Support Engineer for our Product Engineering Support Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:


The Support Engineer will primarily be responsible for providing Tier 3 level support to our Time Warner Cable markets across the country. In addition, we support various vendor labs with installation, upgrades and trouble resolution support. We are also involved in other projects such as testing and integration for new products and system integration of existing products in the field.

Provide product and operations support including on call responsibilites.
Duties include configuration, support, test and troubleshooting for Time Warner Cable client applications. Including support for deploying client code to digital settop boxes. As well as support of the digital headend systems, IP networks, Linux/Solaris servers, video encoders, video transcoders and encryption/DRM hardware in the Time Warner Cable regions and divisions
Document problem resolutions and communicate to internal and external customers.
Work closely with the architecture, engineering, development, planning, deployment and various network groups as well as external vendors.
Design and document process for architecture, support and deployment of software.
Train and mentor other members of the support organizations.
Will be responsible for customer communications and followups
Other tasks and duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience of 4+ years.Ability to deliver outstanding customer service to both external and internal customersResolve critical and non-critical issues in a timely mannerMust have excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills4 years minimum experience with Servers running a flavor of the Unix OSMust have good systems engineering skills to manage and drive new systems implementation and improvements.Familiarity with IP Networking, including firewalls and load balancing.Responsible for communicating issues and working to resolve production and beta field problems with our Product Development and Testing Teams.Responsible for updating and tracking product support issues and requests utilizing bug and issue tracking tools.Experience with Red Hat Linux operating systems.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Flexibility to work extra hours and off hours when needed.Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of cable systems. This includes knowledge of cable head end operations and systems such as Video On Demand, Switched Digital Video, and Billing and Entitlement Systems.
Working knowledge of other cable vendor products such as Motorola and Cisco head end systems, Video on Demand systems, video encoders and transcoders and set top box and consumer electronic cable devices.
Knowledge of Oracle Databases, including Oracle RAC
Experience with VMware solutions.
Knowledge of CSG and ICOMS Billing Systems
Development experience a plus (Java, python, Shell Scripting, etc…)
4+ years experience in a technical support environment
4+ years of experience with mission critical, always on systems.
Experience with large scale virtualized platforms from both a design and operational perspective.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education
and experience.

Travel Requirements:

Yes Travel up to 25%
