About this job

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Facility's infection control program by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection control reporting, and provision of infection control technical support and education for the facility staff.

The Nursing Educator/Trainer is responsible for assisting the DON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all Nursing staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings.

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required Master's Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, nursing practices, patient assessments, education concepts, practices and procedures.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing

Certification: APIC (Certification in Infection Control) or TSICP (Texas Society of Infection Control Practitioners) is preferred or demonstration of continuing education in the field of infection control/prevention through approved/accredited association.

Other Requirements: Will work under supervision/mentorship of an Infection Control Consultant as designated by the facility. Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, restraint and seclusion, and ability to prepare and present training events as directed for Nursing Services. Trained in CPI and CPR. May be required to work occasional weekends and/or other hours conduct weekend training as needed.
