Poplar Springs Hospital, a 183 bed acute care and residential facility, is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calmness and peace. For more than 40 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military.
The candidate selected will be responsible and accountable for:
providing service to a variety of customer groups, including but not limited to: physicians, allied health professionals, hospital emergency departments, convenience care centers, other health care providers, schools, social service and mental health agencies, police, courts, employers and the public at large. provide initial psychiatric or chemical dependency assessments, crisis intervention, professional advice and assistance with disposition of a psychiatric or CD problem or situation, which may or may not include admission to any Poplar Springs Program.
MS degree required in counseling, psychology or related social services field. Two to three years experience in intake and patient assessments. If working towards licensure, must be registered for supervision with the Health Regulatory Board Hours for this position will vary but may include all shifts and weekends.
