Position Purpose:
To plan, direct and manage the daily operation of a 'main' distribution center through subordinate supervisors to ensure the timely and accurate receipt of inbound shipments; stock movement and completion of shipping of store orders. Works interactively with distribution supervisors to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Supervisory Responsibility:
The nature of this position entails supervising all distribution center employees through subordinate exempt level supervisors, to include interviewing, hiring, training, assignment delegation and follow through as well as periodic performance evaluation, disciplinary action and termination when necessary.

Work Environment:
While some job duties are performed while seated indoors, the majority of the time is spent in the distribution center, where exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes and noises should not be overlooked. The incumbent may also be required on occasion to work in the warehouse where there may also be risk of injury resulting from improper procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience:
The minimum educational background of an applicant to this position is two years of college at an accredited institution or equivalent experience. A four-year degree in business, management or logistics is preferred. In addition, a qualified applicant will have a strong working knowledge of basic distribution center management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, accounting relationships and inventory control procedures through experience. At least 10 years of distribution center/warehouse experience is required.
