SQL Server DBA - DIRECT HIRE

Overview:
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) II is responsible for the Install, Create, Configure, implementation, administration and support of the Microsoft SQL Server Databases (DBA), SQL Server based applications and other non-Oracle databases. Perform and lead day-to-day SQL Server and non-Oracle Databases Support activities. Tune Applications and Databases for optimal performance. Perform Backup and Recovery as required. Provide DBA support for all SQL Server related projects. Ensure regular operation and availability of databases and applications as implemented to support internal business tools. Identify and resolve specific problems in the use and performance of systems. This position may be required to provide off hour support.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily administration of MS SQL Server Environments including:
1. Responsible for the administration and support of MS SQL Server and non-Oracle databases. This includes installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades and schema changes.
2. Diagnose server problems and employ preventive measures to maintain high availability of our MS SQL Server and non-Oracle databases
3. Monitor and optimize SQL Server and non-Oracle database performance
4. Ensure all SQL Server and non- Oracle databases are properly patched. Coordinate patching activities when needed.
5. Manage and support junior and offshore augmentation team members. Mentor team member as needed.
6. Provides database operations support, monitoring databases and backups, resolving repetitive and simple events and escalating complex incident according to the standard operating procedures.
7. Provides production database support with specific focus on availability, capacity, performance, security and recoverability.
8. Maintain Instance strategy for all enterprise business systems through their development cycle.
9. Resolve day to day application operation issues and problems by self or software vendor support.
10. Works in accordance with the change control procedures and ensures compliance of change control and any other IS procedure or work instruction that ensures compliance to IS policy and ISO. Establish and recommend policies on system use and services.
11. Perform critical Patch management, Customization and Configuration management and administrations of all SQL Server, non-Oracle databases and applications.
12. Provide emergency after hours support for mission critical apps as required. Perform upgrades / maintenance after hours as required.
13. Provides records and data on specific performance/availability concerns as basis for problem identification/ resolution and management reporting.
14. Maintains user security and overall application and database data integrity, knowledge of SSL deployment and support in a SQL Server environment.
15. Participates in technical team meetings and provide updates to the world wide team as needed.
16. Uses helpdesk software to manage support cases assigned.
17. Tracks all time in accordance with IS policy.
18. Provides regular status reporting (verbal and written).
19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Technology, or a related field required.
2. 5+ years experience working in an information technology environment
3. Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures
4. Experience working with SQL Server Clusters, replication.
5. Broad knowledge of SQL Server database definition, design, and configuration
6. Hand-on experience and in-depth knowledge of SQL Server database (MS 2000, MS 2005, MS 2008, MS 2012 versions). Exposure to MS 2014 version is desirable.
7. Demonstrated skills in the administration of SQL Server databases (creating tables, indexes, views, database objects, and performance issues)
8. Competent to work in most phases of client server relational database management.
9. Working knowledge of ITIL v3 Service Management Processes: Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration/Asset Management, Service Level
Management
10. Excellent service orientation, written and oral communication skills.
11. Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
12. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
13. Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
14. Independent problem-solving, self-direction.
15. Keen attention to detail.
16. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
