About the role:

As the Senior Systems Engineer, your role will be to lead the infrastructure and helpdesk functions of the IT department and ensure the 24x7 operational integrity, performance, and stability of global ICT infrastructure and application environments. You will take ownership of the ITIL process, leading and supporting best practice methodologies such as capacity, change, release and incident management. Support the overall IT organization as required by the IT Manager.


You will also undertake project work including the development of project proposals, project design and implementation.

Key Duties
Lead the infrastructure and helpdesk functions of the IT department.
Action IT related tickets logged in the case management system.
Remotely support IT issues at all global offices.
Setup, optimize and troubleshoot infrastructure devices such as network switches, SAN, Cluster, firewalls, wireless, VoIP phone systems and global office connectivity.
Deploy new servers, operating system and software upgrades.
System administration such as creating user accounts, mailboxes, managing user access permissions, backups and phone systems.
Support mobility and conferencing tools.
Support IT related components of scientific lab and plant operations.
Analyze event and system logs, optimize system and network performance.
System monitoring including services, firewall, backups, performance and capacity.
Enhance proactive monitoring tools for alerting of any issues, investigate all reported errors and resolve issues as required.
Manage vendor relationships and contract details, including operational issues and coordination of sustainable resolution.
Identify opportunities for service and system improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent education.
10+ years WinTel systems management experience.
With 5+ years Cisco experience working with VLAN.
Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
Experience with Hyper-V virtualization technology
Experience supporting firewalls, security, and virtual private network.
Team leadership and customer orientation.
Strong self-learning skill and passion for new technologies.
Ability to prioritize with minimal direction.
IT industry certification such as Microsoft and Cisco desirable.
