Job Summary :
The duties of the person hired for the Maintenance Mechanic position will include but are not limited to performing routine and non-routine Plant Engineering work as assigned: diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service and repair plant process equipment, utility support equipment and material handling equipment.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on the following types of equipment: boilers, compressors, forklifts, overhead hoists, fire protection equipment, air handlers, plant process and support equipment
- Comply with all plant/department safety rules/policies while on 3M property and in the performance of this job
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, vendor drawings and manuals in the performance of this job. Provide updates to documentation when required. Ability to transcribe ideas to print or sketch
- Perform maintenance and related functions using the computerized Maintenance Management System, SAMS
- Work with engineering and production personnel during the troubleshooting, modification, fabrication and repair of plant equipment, utilities and processes
- Provide technical recommendations regarding improvement and optimization of plant equipment, utilities and processes
- Fabrication or repair of parts as necessary
This position will require:
- Rotating shifts
This position may require:
- Weekend work
- Working overtime
- Working holidays as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher
- Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience OR a two (2) year technical degree in a maintenance field
Preferred Qualifications:
- A current and valid boilers license
- Ability to operate, maintain and repair tools and equipment
- Work with minimum direct supervision and the ability to work independently or with teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Location: Fairmont, MN
Relocation: Is not authorized
