The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. We are a 124-bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. Founded in 1967, PIW combines the rich traditions of its past with the behavioral health options of the present. We have an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. We currently have a position available for a PRN Registered Dietician.

Candidates selected will be responsible for the following:

Knowledge of dietetics, nutrition, administration and operation of hospital food services.

Must be familiar with methods of teaching and principles of education and must possess thorough knowledge of theory and practice of dietetics including physiology and digestion processes of the human body.

Ability to maintain good working relations among personnel supervised. Tact and cooperation involved in person-to-person relationships with personnel of other departments, other hospital and professional associations, and with physicians in planning diet therapy.

Supervises all nutritional aspects of patient care, menus and therapeutic menus.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, conferences, and professional affiliations.

Conducts monitoring and evaluation program that complies with established standards of regulating agencies.

Provides adequate dietary orientation program that includes skills training specific to the job function.

Ensures all state, federal, Joint Commission and hospital standards are met consistently.

Determines if staff is following appropriate menu/production system and using it effectively.

Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.

Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Licensed in the District of Columbia.

Minimum of One (1) year related experience as a Clinical Dietitian.

Experience working in an in-patient behavioral health facility preferred but not required.
