We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Network Security Engineer - Grand Central.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Requirements

Purpose and Key Responsibilities of the position:

Plan, develop and implement, network security and services used within Interpublic and its customers. Included in the responsibilities of this position are the rationalization and standardization of these services.

Provides technical expertise and support to client, IT management and staff in risk assessments, implementation and operational aspects of appropriate information security procedures and products.

Participates in the evaluation, development and implementation of security standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse systems environment (e.g., firmwide, distributed, client server systems, and enterprise applications).

  • Helps to develop communications and related campaigns for information security awareness among all staff.
  • Reviews the development, testing and implementation of security plans, products and control techniques.
  • Investigates and recommends appropriate corrective actions for information security incidents.
  • Tests and implements appropriate security methods and control techniques such as firewalls, intrusion detection software, data encryption, data backup and recovery.
  • Performs access control and account administration of critical information resources.
  • Acts as a liaison to the business units and assists them in the implementation of security technologies and applications security.
  • Maintains an awareness of existing and proposed security standard setting groups, State and Federal legislation and regulations pertaining to information security.
  • Identifies regulatory changes that will affect information security policy, standards and procedures, and recommends appropriate changes.
  • May act as Project Leader. May be involved in providing assistance and training to lower level specialists.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least four, typically six or more years of technical experience in the security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocols or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. The position requires expert analytical ability, consultative and communication skills, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with client, IT management and staff, vendors, and consultants.

Specialized Skills and Competencies required to perform the work:

  • TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN architecture and advanced routing protocols.
  • Network management tools to analyze, monitor and troubleshoot network related problems. (Wireshark, TCPdump, Snort, etc.)
  • Palo Alto, Check Point, & Cisco firewalls
    • Network Monitoring Tools:
    • Splunk, Snort IDS, Nessus, Cisco ACS, Firemon, Cisco Prime
    • Remote Access
    • SSL, IPSec
