Description

MENTOR is seeking an Accounting Supervisor, which supervises accountants and assists in the planning and supervision of accounting group activities. Coordinates and supervises maintenance of the general ledger and resultant financial statements. Evaluates accounting processes and recommends process improvements to management.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervises and assists staff in their daily responsibilities. Provides on the job training and staff development.
  • Provides oversight, reviews and assists in the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews, recommends and implements best practices to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Plans, coordinates and prepares month-end closing schedule.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries prepared by Staff Accountants.
  • Provides oversight for and/or analyzes monthly balance sheet account variances and income statement variances.
  • Contributes to the development and entry of annual and reforecast budgets.
  • Coordinates and directs all month-end closing activities to comply with deadlines.
  • Provides general accounting support to business units.
  • Prepares reconciliation audit binders for all company audits. Assists external auditors as needed.
  • Ensures Sarbanes Oxley compliance with all assigned areas and other audit requirements.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and three to five years of accounting. MBA preferred. One to two years experience in a supervisory position preferred.
