POSITION SUMMARY The Surgery Technician assists in preparing for and during surgery by performing routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies of the department and hospital to assure quality patient care. Must be available for surgery call within 30 minutes of the hospital.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education
High School graduate or equivalent; completion of Operating Room Technicians program required. CPR from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required; Basic arrhythmia interpretation preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in Surgery or in the Acute Care setting required.
Knowledge:
Knowledgeable in medical terminology and basic computer skills. Knowledge of preparation of instruments, including decontamination and sterilizing instruments required.
Skills:
Requires strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Requires flexibility to accommodate emergencies as well as changing schedules and priorities. Ability to deal with high volume work, rapidly changing priorities and unusual situations with patients, families and physicians.
