Primary Responsibilities:



  • Leading teams accountable for testing methodologies, strategies, approaches, and concepts
  • Implement quality standards for Optum products and oversee the development and execution of software test plans and analysis of test results
  • Allocate resources and assess trade-offs to remain within budget across the entire spectrum of tests, including: Test Co-ordination, Test Strategy Production, Test Planning, Test Phase Management and Execution, Oversight of System Integration Testing, Test Reporting, Quality Continuous Improvement
  • Implement policies and the necessary test software functionality and data integrity to safeguard the operational stability and integrity of the Optum production environment
  • Implement Quality Engineering strategic vision for the QA teams, implementing operational policies and directives, and communicate progress toward goals and objectives
  • Work with development and supply clear feedback in areas like architectural and functional specification reviews
  • Participate in Quality Engineering strategic development through advocacy for programs and projects central to maintaining quality
  • Anticipate future business needs, make decisions and implement policies that affect areas of the Optum outside of QA
  • Accountable for cross-functional initiatives and collaboration, which may have significant impact on business results
  • Serve as technical consultant and technical leader, where the sphere of influence may include people outside of Optum

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience at the Director of Quality Assurance level or equivalent
  • 10+ years of professional IT experience
  • 7+ years of professional IT management experience in a large, matrixed organization
  • 7+ years diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people motivation skills
  • 2+ years of experience with test automation and transition from manual to automation
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methodology
  • 5+ years in a commercial software development environment
  • 3+ years of experience of matrix leadership of geographically distributed teams, including offshore teams
  • A strong understanding of quality assurance and automation concepts related to software architecture and qualifying complex large-scale systems
  • Experience architecting and building automated testing frameworks
  • Strong experience in defining testing methodologies, strategies, approaches, and concepts, and defining test plans and test cases
  • Demonstrable track record of driving multi-site teams to successful completion
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement solutions to complex problems, recognizing the business impact of these solutions
  • Ability to take ownership of an initiative and converge on a definition after evaluating multiple options
  • Results-driven, with the ability to execute accurate and timely decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication working with Executive audiences
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team, with excellent mentoring and coaching skills
  • Proficiency in hardware, software, and operating systems environments

Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM
  • Experience using Rally software development
  • Experience with Cloud technologies
  • Understanding of software-as-a-service industry
  • Experience with automated test frameworks
  • Experience with reporting to Executive management, key to influence
  • Continuous Integration experience
  • Healthcare industry experience (ideally revenue cycle management)
