A successful Helpdesk Technician will have the following:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends in a 24x7 call center environment.
  • Ability to quickly interpret, diagnose, and respond to problems within a highly-dynamic technical environment. Detail-oriented and strong customer service skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Self-driven with a desire to implement creative solutions for complex problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Proven background in the IT industry or related field. Ability to perform basic computations and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems.

 Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:  

  • Respond to technical issues as they arise by documenting incident details, responding to requests, initiating customer contact, escalating to appropriate parties, and resolving incidents.
  • Provide continuous status information in a professional manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voicemail, e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of personnel.
  • Work as a team player with individuals from all departments.
